Card of the Day - 2005 Auto Draft

As detailed on the 2005-06 Upperdeck SP Game Used Auto Draft card, Souray was the 71st overall pick in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. This card is serial numbered to 71, has a sticker signature, and shows Sheldon in his Devils jersey.

Card of the Day - 2004 Be A Player

Always sharp looking cards, the 2004-05 Be A Player signature card has Souray's signature on a sticker, which was applied to the card once they received it back from Sheldon.

Card of the Day - 2004 All World

During the NHL lockout, Souray played in Swedan for Farjestad BK, as shown in the 2004-05 Upper Deck All World Edition. There was a signature parallel and a dual signature card with Zdeno Chara.

Featuring a great action shot of "Hammer", the 2003-04 Upper Deck card shows Souray playing against his former team, the Devils.

Card of the Day - 2003 Titanium

The 2003-04 Pacific Titanium card had a parallel that featured Souray's jersey number and was serial numbered to 250.

Memorabilia of the Month - Studly Wonderbomb 44 t-shirt

How awesome is Sheldon Souray? He's so awesome that for every one of these fantastic t-shirts that sells, he makes a donation to the Stollery Children's Hospital in Edmonton, AB. I've got mine and you can get yours here: Sports Chirps.

Card of the Day - 2002 UD

Although it's a sharp looking hockey card, the 2002-03 Upper Deck card predicts that Souray will enjoy a great 2002-03, a season he missed due to surgery on his wrist and the resulting recovery.

Card of the Day - 2001 In The Game

In The Game's 2001-02 Signature Series featured three versions of the card: base, signature, and gold signature. All three variations are sharp looking cards and both signature parallels feature "hard-signed" signatures.

Card of the Day - 2000 Pacific

It was in Montreal where Souray first donned the number 44 - which he has worn for all his NHL seasons since - as seen in the 2000-01 Pacific card.

Card of the Day - 2000 OPC

On March 1, 2000, the Devils traded Souray to the Montreal Canadiens. The majority of Sheldon's cards are from his years with the Habs, including this one: 2000-2001 O-Pee-Chee.

Card of the Day - 1999 Unsung Hero

The only card I have from Souray's second year with the Devils, 1999-2000 Wayne Gretzky Hockey "Unsung Hero".

The End is Nigh

The NHL regular season ends tonight, and with it Souray's first year in Dallas also comes to a close, as Dallas missed the playoffs this year. Sheldon remains an Unrestricted Free Agent at this time, so I have my fingers crossed that he receives an offer soon, either an extension from the Stars or from another team. Free Agency officially begins July 1st, so it could be that nothing will happen until then. I think Sheldon enjoyed Dallas and did well there, so it wouldn't surprise me if they re-signed him - I'm actually more surprised that they haven't already done so.

Best of luck to Sheldon in getting a new/great contract this off-season and all the best next year!

Card of the Day - 1998 Upper Deck

Souray's 1998-99 Upper Deck rookie card also came in a metallic Gold Reserve parallel.

Card of the Day - 1998 Paramount

Another of Souray's rookie cards, the 1998-99 Pacific Paramount, which also has a Copper parallel.

Card of the Day - 1998 Pacific rookie

Souray's 1998-99 Pacific rookie card from way back when he was #2 for the New Jersey Devils. In junior Sheldon always had a number 4 in his jersey number, but the Devils have a policy of not letting guys pick their number, so he ended up with #2. The Devils have also never in their history used a jersey number over 30.

Card of the Day - 1996 Albany Team Set

Split Second produced the 1996-97 AHL Albany River Rats team set, which is the only year that I have found that includes Souray. He was with the team for several years, but may have been called up by the New Jersey Devils when other years' sets were being produced.

Card of the Day - 1994 Signature Rookies

The earliest Souray cards I've acquired are the 1994 Signature Rookies. The base card is numbered to 45,000, but they are all "1 of 45,000", so I'm not sure why they bothered to number them at all. The Authentic Signature parallel is "hard-signed" (written directly onto the card, rather than signed on a clear sticker that was applied to the card after) and hand-numbered out of 7,750.

Magazine of the Month - 2006 Alberta Land & Life

In November/December 2006, the special inaugural issue of "Alberta Land & Life" had a large section on the Elk Point area, including a 2-page spread on Sheldon.
